Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How often do you come?
A: Currently, we offer a weekly and a bi-weekly service. A week is defined as five to ten days between cleanings. Bi-weekly is defined as eleven to sixteen days between cleanings

Q:  Is there an extra charge for the first time?
A: There may be an extra charge for the initial clean up if there has been a lot of accumulation of waste and payment is due at the time of service.  The fee is based upon size of yard, condition of yard, and amount of accumulation.

Q:  Is it possible to get a one-time service?
A: Yes. A one-time service may be arranged and payment is due at the time of service. Like the initial clean up, the fee depends on size of the yard, condition of the yard, and amount of accumulation.

Q:  Do you come during the winter?
A:  Yes. Your dog keeps doing his business, so we do ours.
Q: Do you work in the rain?
A: Usually, rain is not a problem with the exception of hazardous conditions such as torrential rain or lightning. If rain is a problem, service will be postponed.

Q: What if it snows?
A: If there is an inch or less of accumulation, it’s normally not a problem. If there is more than an inch, finding everything is very difficult. Therefore, we find it is better not to come out.   If, for whatever reason, the weather makes it impossible to service your yard that week, the yard will be serviced the follow week.
Q: Do leaves and high grass affect the service of my yard?
A: As you can imagine, it makes it difficult to see every waste pile in the yard. The better the condition of the yard, the better chance we have of seeing and removing every waste pile in that yard. We guarantee that we take every possible measure to remove all the waste from your yard, but we can only remove what we see.

Q: Should I unlock my gate?
A: Yes. Since we do not climb over or jump fences, please have your gate unlocked on service day. You may provide us with a key or the combination to the lock if that would be convenient to you.

Q: Can you work with my dog in the yard?
A: In most cases, we can. However, there are some cases when the dog will not allow us into the yard. If you know that your dog is not good with strangers, or it becomes apparent that your dog will not allow us to clean the yard, we ask that you restrain or confine the dog. We do not want to take any unnecessary risks.

Q: How do I pay for the service?
A: The first month is due at the time of the initial service.  Then, a bill will be sent to the customer on or about the 15th of the month for the next month. This payment is due by the 1st of the following month.  If payment is not received by the first of the month, a $5.00 late fee will applied.  If payment is not received by the 10th of the month, service will be stopped until the bill is paid.   Since we come all year round and some months have an additional day of service, the payment is based 52 weeks in the year, rather 4 weeks in the month.

Q: Are there requirements for cancelling service?
A: We do not have contracts, but we do request that you give us at least 15 days notice if you plan to cancel the service for the following month.

Q: What form of payment do you take?
A: At this time, we are only accepting cash, checks, or money orders. Eventually, we will be accepting credit cards. If a check written by the customer is returned for insufficient funds, the customer will pay for any returned check fees and bank fees. The customer will then pay the billed amount in cash and the payment type for future bills of service is at the discretion of Scoopie Doo.

Q: Do you offer any types of discounts or incentives?
A: Yes. We have several discounts and incentives. We offer a discount to senior citizens, disabled persons, and for 3 month, 6 month, and 9 month prepaid customers. Also, we offer a 10% discount to customers who refer new customers.

Q: What do you do with the dog waste?
A: The dog waste is disposed of properly at the landfill.

Q: How do you prevent cross-contamination between yards that are serviced?
A: After each yard we disinfect our tools.  Also, we wear disposable gloves and shoe covers.

Q: Why is the bi-weekly price higher than the weekly price? You come less often.
A: True, but each service we are cleaning up twice as much waste for less than twice the price.

Q: How do I get started?
A: Easy! Just call or email us.  We are prepared to respond to your needs quickly.  We will go over a few questions about the size of your property, the number of dogs, the last cleaning, and frequency of service.  We can usually start service within a few days.

Q: Do you service commerical properties?

A:Yes! In addition to residential properties, Scoopie Doo also provides clean up and removal service to dog parks, apartment complexes, condos, and townhouses.

Q: What is this All Natural Insect Spray?

A: It is a Cedarwood and Lemongrass Oil based spray used to repel mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas. It also contains Citronella to repel gnats.  Since the spray is non-toxic, it is not harmful to children or pets.  The spray lasts up to 4 weeks.
